ROSS, NOVELLA CATE - 101, of Morganton, NC passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Knox County, TN on April 5, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Walter Elbert Cate and Anna Keener Cate. Novella was a member of Mount Home Baptist Church in Morganton and a former member of Thorngrove Baptist Church in Strawberry Plains, TN. She is survived by her niece and nephew, who also acted as her caregivers, Loretta and Kenneth Bivens of Nebo, NC. In addition to her parents, Novella was preceded in death by her first husband, Ruel L. Monroe, and her second husband, William Luther Ross. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville, TN under the direction of the Rev. Calvin Thomas, friend and former pastor of Thorngrove Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
