Bonnie Aguiar Obituary

Bonnie Faye Aguiar
Resident of Concord
Bonnie Faye Aguiar passed from this life March 3rd 2014 surrounded by her immediate family and her loving husband. She was born March 30th 1931, in Indianola Oklahoma, to Orland "Jake" and Mabel Bernice Day. Jake passed in 1936 and Bernice remarried Clyde Jones in 1939. Having taken work with the Shell Oil Company, Clyde moved the family to Martinez California in 1942. Bonnie excelled in school, winning several academic accolades while in grammar school. She would later attend Alhambra High School in Martinez. In 1949 she gave birth to her only child, a daughter, Deborah Sue. Throughout her life she was an avid reader, and loved to entertain her friends and family members.
Bonnie married Louis Aguiar in 1967, and the two were inseparable until Bonnie was called home. During their life together, Bonnie and Lou lived life to the fullest. They were very active with the Concord Elks club, and Bonnie was the founding president of the Lady Ezes (the ladies auxiliary) for the Concord lodge. In addition to her charity work with the Lady Eves, Bonnie helped to raise funds for St. Ann's Children's Nursery and The American Cancer Society. Bonnie loved the Napa valley, and after spending a considerable amount of time in Calistoga, she and Lou purchased a weekend home near the Silverado Trail. The Calistoga house served as a treasured getaway spot for Bonnie and her family. She loved the town and was a fixture at the local pool on most days during the summer. Bonnie and Lou also travelled extensively in their motorhome visiting friends, family, and the sites and monuments of the country they both so cherished. During their travels they fell in love with the town and people of Yuma Arizona, and after a couple of visits with good friends and family they established a winter home there. Bonnie loved the lifestyle in Yuma. She spent her days relaxing by the pool, taking ceramics classes, and perusing the local swap meets and the bazaars of Yuma and northern Mexico for deals. On most evenings she could be found listening or dancing while Lou played the guitar in a country music band made up of a motley collection of their friends and family.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, and best friend, Louis Aguiar of Concord; her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Gary Joseph of Brentwood; her step-daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Steve Gifford of Escalon; her grandson Jarrett Joseph, and his wife Kristina of Antioch; her grandson Matthew Joseph, and his fiancé Nicole Denny of Concord; her granddaughter Sarah Hall, her husband Brian of San Diego; as well as several treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
The family would like to express its gratitude to the Sunnyvale board and care home in Walnut Creek for their gentle care of Bonnie during her stay there. Also, to Veria and Jhai, for all of their considerate and tender treatment during Bonnie's return to her home. Our sincere thanks to Ricky and Mitchell for their kind, and loving, care of Bonnie during the final months of her life.
Bonnie was a kind and caring friend, a loyal and loving wife, as well as a wonderful mother and grandmother. No family has ever been so privileged, so honored, so fully blessed as ours. She was the constant guide and counselor, the driving strength, and the binding force of our entire family – the wind beneath our wings. She will be deeply, and truly, missed.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00PM, Monday, March 10, 2014 at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel 4125 Clayton Road, Concord. Funeral Service will be at 11:00AM, Tuesday, March 11, 2014 also at the Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord.
