Sean M. McGuinness, 37, of Elk Grove, California, died September 10, 2010 at UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco, California, of complications from congenital heart disease.
Sean was born March 28, 1973 in Newton, Massachusetts. He is the son of Bernadette and Robert Dawson of Sharon, Massachusetts, and grandson of the late John and Shiela McGuinness of Sharon, Massachusetts and Robert and Margaret Dawson of Ellington, Connecticut. At age 21, he became the proud big brother of Robbie Dawson.
Sean grew up in Sharon, Massachusetts where he graduated from Sharon High School. He attended Northeastern University, majoring in History. He moved to Brookline and worked at Children's Hospital-Boston where he met his future fiance, Laura Rodriguez. Sean moved to California in 2000, where Laura attended graduate school while he worked as an office manager at UC Berkeley.
An avid animal lover, Sean pursued a degree in Veterinary Technology. Sean and Laura purchased a home in Elk Grove, California in 2005 where they lived with their beloved dogs Scout, Yuma, and Radar.
Sean's gallant battle with heart disease throughout his life was an inspiration to all who knew him. He accepted with grace increasing limitations as his health failed, and always found a new goal and a reason to enjoy life. Sean lived his life with optimism and humor. He loved nature and the music of Bob Dylan. Sean was an enthusiastic Boston sports fan and had the blessing of many life-long friends.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday Sept 18th 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Cottage St. SHARON at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday evening 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park. Canton. MA.
