Michael Artibey

Michael A. Artibey, age 71, of Kouts passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 21, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife, Dianna; daughter, Kristina Marie Artibey; sister, Donna Gannon; step-chidren, Michael, Jerry, Roger, and Michelle Lee; beloved grandson, Joseph Kathcart; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael; his parents, and 11 brothers and sisters. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 4 to 8 pm at Burdan Funeral Home 12901 Wicker Ave (corner of Rt 41 & 129th Ave) Cedar Lake. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm with Fr. Tibbs officiating. Michael was born at St. Catherine's Hospital in East Chicago, IN on October 3, 1944. He attended St. Casmir School and was a graduate of Washington High School. Michael retired from ArcelorMittal Steel after 44 years of service. He was a body builder in his younger years and was awarded the title of Mr. Indiana at the age of 19. Michael will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
