McMANUS, James Patrick. Age 52 years, of Charlestown, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully Monday, November 23, 2015, surrounded by his family after a long illness. Jimmy was the loving and affectionate husband of Natalie McManus and the adoring father of Jack, Tara and Allie. Born May 21, 1963 to James and Susan McManus, Jim was raised in Hamden, CT with his sisters Mary, Anne, and Susan. He attended Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT, earned a scholarship to Yale University where he received a BA in Political Science and eventually went on to earn an MBA from the Harvard Business School, forming lifelong friendships in each phase of his education. Jim was the President and Chief Operating Officer of The Hinckley Company at the time of his death, a position he treasured as a lover of the ocean and often called his dream job. He joined Hinckley in 2007, leading the company through economic recession in 2008-2009. Before Hinckley, Jim worked in corporate finance with Lehman Brothers, management consulting with McKinsey & Company, and served as the president of three operating divisions of the Aramark Corporation. In 2003 Jim relocated with his family from the Philadelphia area to Boston to serve as the President and CEO of the Zoots Corporation. In all aspects of his life, Jim constantly inspired those around him with his unwavering spirit and devotion to positivity, inclusion, and occasional good-natured shenanigans--loving life at every turn and reminding us all to do the same. His lifelong curiosity helped him develop intelligence that was only outmatched by his humility, and his generous, indiscriminate love brought new friends into his life at every turn. A proud son of Irish immigrants and first-generation American, Jim had a lifelong love of music and was often heard singing the songs of the Clancy Brothers or Bruce Springsteen at any opportunity. He had an infectious energy--especially on the dance floor--and loved sharing joyful moments of song with old friends and new. Over many summers on Block Island and Cape Cod he developed a deep affection for boating and the ocean, enjoying great times with his family and friends aboard his boat LUCKY. Along with his wife Natalie, parents, children and sisters, Jim is survived by his former wife and the mother of his children Robin Krawczyk, brothers-in-law Mark Levinsky and Brian Rogers, nephews Matt Levinsky, Aidan Smyth, James Smyth and Dylan Rogers, nieces Sarah Levinsky Paige Levinsky, Emma Smyth and Lily Rogers, godsons Matt Santello and James Gallagher, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visiting hours will be held for Jimmy on Monday, November 30, from 3 to 7 P.M. at St. Cecilia Church, 18 Belvidere St., in Boston's Back Bay. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, December 1st, at St. Cecilia Church. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the James P. McManus Scholarship Fund. Checks can be made to James P. McManus Scholarship Fund and sent to 7 Pier 7, Charlestown, MA 02129 (inquiries email [email protected]). Interment will be private.

I was Jim's administrative assistant at Zoots. Jim was kind, gentle and real. He is loved by so many and greatly missed. He was a wonderful wonderful boss. And a wonderful wonderful man. When I left Zoots I was trying to say goodbye to him and was crying so hard I just couldn't get the words out. I had to write him a letter to tell him what a wonderful person he was and how much I enjoyed working for him. Just a wonderful human being. t

This comes so late but nonetheless most sincere. I came upon Jim's obituary by pure chance. I am so sorry to receive the news of his death. All the McManus family were faithful summer parishioners here at St. Andrew's on Block Island. I will offer Holy Mass for the repose of his soul and for each of you who still mourn his passing. May God take him into eternity with His embrace of love. And through Jim's intercession, bring peace and caring on all who remain. God bless each of you most tenderly.

My deepest sympathy to the whole McManus family along with everyone that has worked with him. He was generous and sincerely a kind man. But it was his genuine love for animals that will always be what I associate his memory with.
