LOUISE B. JOHNSON, 94 POLAND-There will be Services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman for Louise B. Johnson, 94, who died Friday afternoon at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. Louise was born July 14, 1921 in Youngstown, a daughter of Carl and Ruth Jacobson Bjorson. Louise was a school teacher for 29 years with the Youngstown and Poland School Systems, having taught at the Delason-Monroe Schools and then the Poland Union School, retiring in 1982. Louise was a 1939 graduate of South High School and then earned her B.S. degree in Education from Kent State University. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Lutheran Church, its Miriam Circle, the Alma Johnson Sunday School Class and the Lutheran Women. Louise was a member of the Youngstown and Poland Teachers Associations, the Ohio and National Teachers Associations and the Mahoning County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and the Panhellenic Sorority. Louise was a member of Harmony Lodge No. 465 Vasa Order of America and its Ever Ready Club. In retirement, Louise enjoyed volunteering, especially playing the piano and singing at area nursing homes and also substituting at churches, playing both the piano and organ for church services, weddings and funerals. Her husband, Paul A. Johnson, Sr., whom she married July 1, 1949, died Sept. 25, 2010. Louise is survived by her sons, Paul A. (Michele L.) Johnson, Jr. of North Lima and James T. (Cathy A.) Johnson of Andover; her grandsons, Peter M. (Rachel) Johnson and Lucas P. Johnson and her nieces and nephews, Mary Ellen (Richard) Farr, James McFarling, Paula Moran, William (Julie) Orr and Ruth Louise (James) Igo. Besides her husband, Louise was preceded in death by her sister, Jean B. Orr. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday prior to the Service at the church. The family would like to thank Shepherd of the Valley in Poland and Howland and also Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate care and concern for Louise.
