Helen Evelyn Becker was born on March 6, 1922, at Hesston, to Harvey and Elizabeth Holdeman Yost. She passed away on Dec. 30, 2015, at the Moundridge Manor, Moundridge, Kansas.
On May 4, 1941, Mother was married to Raymond D. Becker, by Min. Harvey Yost. They traveled life's road together, enjoying the joys and sorrows for almost 64 years, until Dad passed away in 2005. To them were born eight children, including two sets of twins. Their first home was in the Moundridge and Galva communities, then they settled on a farm at Burns, Kansas, in 1950. After retiring from farming, they moved into Burns in 1998. She entered the Moundridge Manor in February 2015.
One of the outstanding qualities of Mother was her faithful support of our father during the many years he served in the Church. Raymond was ordained to the deaconry on April 10, 1953. Theirs was a life of work and sacrifice, traveling at home and abroad, helping in the outreach of the Church in Haiti and the Philippines, where they spent a period of time. She also spent much time doing secretarial work for the church.
Those left to cherish her memory are six sons and two daughters: Galen and Verna, Burns; Loren and Marilyn, Texline, Texas; Donna and William Koehn, Burns; Don and Marilyn, Bruneau, Idaho; Delbert and Shirley, Texline, Texas; Gary and Cheleen, Burns, Carolyn and Rodney Koehn, Burns; Calvin and Cindy, El Dorado; twenty-seven grandchildren; and seventy-six great-grandchildren; two brothers: Harlan Yost, Greensburg, and Carl and Lavada Yost, Detroit, Texas; two sisters: Verna Smith, Hutchinson; Carol and Chester Dirks, Rich Hill, Missouri; two brothers-in-law: Curtis and Joann Unruh, Galva, and Ben Becker, Moundridge; one sister-in-law, Elma Jean Yost, Brooksville, Mississippi.
Preceding her in death were her husband, four grandchildren, two brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 at Eden Church of God in Christ Mennonite, in rural Burns, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Moundridge Manor in Care of Petersen Funeral Home.
