Chad Davis Obituary

Published by Wieting Family Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 19, 2013.
Chad Everett Davis, 42, of Sherwood, WI died in a drowning accident on January 19, 2013. Chad was born on April 28, 1970 in Appleton, WI to George "Woody" & Marsha (Berton) Davis. Chad attended Appleton East High School, where he excelled in wrestling for four years, and graduated in 1988. Chad attended UW Fox Valley and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1993 with a degree in Criminal Justice. In that same year, Chad met his future wife, Nancy Engler. They were married on September 26, 1998 in Chilton, WI. For a time, Chad worked as a Correction's Officer for Outagamie County and later joined TEK Systems where he worked for the past 15 years and served most recently as a Senior Account Executive. The real joy and focus of Chad's life was his wife, Nancy and two children, Ellie (10) and Spencer (8). Chad was a devoted husband, father and family man. His dedication to his children was evident in the countless hours he spent with them, coaching soccer, reading, spending time in Door County at the family lake house, at the ledge house in Quinney, and most recently, at Chad and Nancy's new cottage on Boot Lake, in Lakewood, WI. Chad was determined to take care of his family and worked hard to provide for them. He supported them in all their interests. He was particularly supportive of Nancy's business endeavors and was often by her side helping with school and community projects. Chad was a loyal and dedicated husband, dad, son, brother, brother-in-law and son-in-law. Chad was always willing to offer a hand to his parents and in-laws when needed, often going above and beyond the call of duty. Chad was a good friend. Chad was passionate in everything he did, whether he was deer hunting, ATVing, playing paintball, refurbishing his Mustang and Ranchero, or just socializing. He kept in touch with old friends and extended family. Chad was a gun collector, historian and gun enthusiast. He never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good cigar with his brother, Jim. Chad's encouragement, patience, tenderness, devotion and passion touched everyone he knew. His infectious smile will always be remembered. Chad is survived by his wife, Nancy of Sherwood; daughter, Ellie and son, Spencer both at home; parents, George "Woody" and Marsha Davis; 3 brothers, Jim (Robyn) Davis of Barstow, California; Mark (Ann) Davis, of Oshkosh; Shawn (Kathy) Davis of Appleton; his father-in-law, William Engler, Jr. of Chilton; a brother-in-law, Bill (Laurie) Engler of Appleton; 4 sisters-in-law, Pat (Tom) Parish of Laramie; WY, Paula (Terence) Fox of Manitowoc; Susan Engler and her husband Stu Hopfensperger of Plymouth; Sarah (Joel) Weitz of Madison. Chad is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Chad was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Gail Engler and most recently a cousin Arnie Berton. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood. Burial will follow in the High Cliff Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2013. A time of sharing and story telling will be held at 8:00 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. There will be no visitation held Friday morning, but friends are invited to visit with the family at the luncheon following burial. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Chad Davis. This obituary reminder e-mail just came up this morning in my email. As I scrolled through all the condolences from 10 years ago I was reminded of the multitude of lives he touched, what a good man, friend, father and husband he was. How great full I am today to have called him a friend. Just last night Jeff Hill and I were talking about Chad and brought up how I spoke about Chad yesterday at my son“s wrestling tournament with a complete stranger sharing our time wrestling together in high school. Never far from the thoughts of those who were lucky enough to know him and and count on him as a friend.

I just learned today of Chad's passing. I am in total shock and would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Chad's family. I got to know Chad in early 2008 when I worked with him as a Resource Professional representing TEK Systems. He provided me excellent resources and he and I developed an excellent professional relationship that I will value for the remainder of my life. Chad was the consummate professional, sharing family stories with me and I with him. He exemplified the perfect father, husband, and friend. I will miss him dearly and want the world to know what a high-character and high-class individual and child of God he was. Please accept this heartfelt testimony to a fine human being whom I will miss very much.

Davis Family,

You have my deepest sympathies for the loss of Chad. Even though we only saw each other infrequently since high school, I will always remember Chad as one of the nicest guys I knew. He was one of my first friends at McKinley Elementary, and I always enjoyed talking and hanging out whenever we had the chance.

I had the priviledge to know Chad. He was enthusiastic in everything he did and seemed to have more zest for life than any one person should have. I will remember his contagious smile, bone jarring slaps on the back, and his larger than life attitude.

Davis Family,

It is hard to put into words how much this hurts. I feel truly blessed for having Chad, and your entire family, in my life. We have lost one of life's finest. A man with many gifts, but most notably a wonderful and caring person that always made those around him feel good through his bright, funny, joking personality. A committed husband, father and friend. So sad for his loss. He will be greatly missed.

We will hold your family close in our thoughts and prayers.

Nancy,

Hello again. Lynn and I have become good friends with Bill and Laurie through school.

I had hoped our paths would cross again under better circumstances, maybe at their house or at the beautiful Ledge house.

We are terribly saddened by the news and are praying for your entire family. While we didn't know Chad, I heard wonderful things from his coworkers and customers.

God Bless you and keep you strong.

Chad was our Tek Systems contact at K-C. When we would go out for lunch we would spend five minutes talking about work and the rest of the time talking about family and hobbies. He even took me paint balling once. That was just the kind of person he was. Very friendly and outgoing. Even after I left K-C he would still drop me a line from time to time to see how I was doing. His passing truly saddens me. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
