Ralph E. Heiser

Ralph E. Heiser, 84, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at DeKalb Health in Auburn. Born in Hoagland, IN, Ralph enlisted in the Army on June 28, 1948 during the Korean War. For his service he received the Purple Heart, 3 Bronze Stars, and numerous other recognitions. He was a member of the American Legion Post 97, Legion Riders Chapter 97, VFW, DAV, and was a past Master of the Concord Masonic Lodge 556, was a member of the Shriners, and a member of Yorkrite. He was a self-employed Contractor for over 50 years, retiring in 1990. Ralph enjoyed living life, auto racing, and riding his motorcycle all over the country. He was proud to be the first recipient of the Indiana Rider of the Year award given by the American Legion. Surviving are his special companion, Shirley Higinbotham of Clearwater, FL; sons, Bruce Heiser of Fort Wayne and Douglas (Kim) Heiser of Auburn; grandchildren: Michelle (Hershel) Criner of NC, Jacqueline Ebersole of NC, Anette Gasparini of Auburn, IN, Austin (Lynsee) Cheviron of Fort Wayne, Brittany Cheviron of Indianapolis, IN, and Victoria Heiser of Auburn, IN; and 13 great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Luella Heiser; daughter, Lori Heiser; and grandson, PJ Gasparini. Memorials may be made to the Dekalb Hospice Care.
