ROCK FALLS – Ivan L. Barton, 61 of Rock Falls died Monday January 25, 2016 at his home. He was born on August 28, 1954 in Princeton, IL the son of Ivie O'dell and Dorla (Albright) Barton and had been a 1972 graduate of Rock Falls Township High School. Ivan was employed at the former National Manufacturing until they closed. He had been the owner of the former 1st Choice Auto Sales and had also sold cars at various dealerships. In his younger years, Ivan played in azxv band that had toured throughout Canada and the U.S. It was while playing in Canada he met his first wife, Greta Harding. He later married Lynette Masini. His hobby was his 55' Chevy. Surviving is his wife, Lynette; his daughters: Megan (Lucas) DeGroot of Rock Falls and Ashley Barton of Sterling; his mother, Dorla Barton of Rock Falls; his brother Mark Barton of Rock Falls and one grandson Jack Ivie DeGroot; his step children: Brigette (Jim) O'Brien of Sterling and Bradley Johnson of Sterling; and three step grandchildren: Trinity, Tabytha and Tylor. He was preceded in death by his father Ivie Barton. Visitation will be held on Friday January 29, 2016 from 3:30 – 6:15 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow at 6:30 PM.

So sorry for your loss. He was a great guy and always had a smile and joke for everyone. He was neighbors with my mother and grandmother. He kept an eye out for us. He will be missed by all. Love and God Bless!

Ivan was a neighbor and a good friend growing up. We lost contact after high school, but he found me on Facebook last year and was glad to get to know him again.
