She was born in the Bronx, NY on July 8, 1941 to Richard and Lucy (Bello) Califano. She was a resident of Sea Cliff for 40 years and also had a home in Taos, NM for the past 22 years.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Hofstra University and a master's degree from New York University.
Grace was an educator, photographer, writer and artist. She taught in the East Meadow, NY school district, exhibited artwork in Taos and published articles in visual arts magazines.
The family includes her husband of 28 years, George Schaub of Sea Cliff, NY; a son, John Polgrean and his wife, Rachel, of Bedford, NH; three grandchildren, Brynn, Emma and Kallie Polgrean all of Bedford, NH; two brothers, Ernest Califano and his wife, Nilda, and Richard Califano and his companion, Joan Walsh; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made in Grace Schaub's name to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 132 W. 32nd St., New York, NY 10001, or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), 383 Main Ave., 5th floor, Norwalk, CT 06851
