He was born in Lynn, MA on December 19, 1927 to James and Elizabeth (Cloran) Moloney. He grew up in Swampscott, MA and graduated from St. John's Prep in Danvers, MA and Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA. He lived in Hanover, NH for many years before moving to Bedford.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1947 and was honorably discharged.
James was an insurance agent for many years. He founded and operated Maloney Associates in Hanover, NH. He was a member of the Rotary Club in Hanover, NH for many years.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
The family includes his wife of 65 years, Joan (Daley) Maloney of Bedford, NH; six children, James Jeffrey Maloney of Gloucester, MA, John Philip Maloney and his wife, Gail, of Big Fork, MT, Susan Maloney of Dixville, Quebec, Canada, William Joseph Maloney and his wife, Lisabeth, of Hanover, NH, Mark Francis Maloney and his wife, Sharon, of Auburn, NH and U.S. Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney and his husband, Randy Florke, of Cold Spring, NY; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Elizabeth Moulton.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford, NH. Committal prayers followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 134 Broadway, Lynn, MA.
