Ann Thompson Obituary

Published by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Feb. 20, 2016.
Ann L. (Butler) Thompson, 80, of Windsor, beloved wife for 55 years of the late Chester "Frank" Thompson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford. She was born May 3, 1935 in Beaufort, South Carolina to the late Leroy and Margaret (McTeer) Butler. Her upbringing in the south was something she was always proud of, she was a direct descendent of one of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence, and throughout the years her and Frank would visit so she could maintain her connection there. A resident of Connecticut since the 50's she and Frank settled in Windsor in 1962. Together they went on to found the Thompson Associates, Inc. / Thompson Group, Inc. She will be remembered as a woman of elegance and grace who truly loved life. Ann and Frank loved travelling and exploring around the world and were fortunate to do so extensively. She loved to work in the garden and spend time relaxing with friends and family outdoors, but nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. She is survived by her son, Glenn C. Thompson and his wife, Joan of Windsor; and her granddaughters, Emily, Chloe and Mackenzie. She also leaves her sister, Carol Shirley of South Carolina and her brother, Roy Butler of Ohio. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her son Stephen F. Thompson and eight brothers and sisters. Ann's family would like to thank all of the staff at Gaylord Hospital for their warm and compassionate care. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 26, 11 a.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial will follow in Palisado Cemetery, Windsor. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, February 25, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations in Ann's memory may be made to Gaylord Hospital, Development Office, PO Box 400, Wallingford CT 06492. For online condolences please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.

Glenn, recently I read about your mother's passing, and upon further digging, I found your father's obit as well. I worked for your dad from April 1969 to December 1978 and I remember both your mom and dad as wonderful people. Not from just the work environment, but the after hours things - the parties, picnics, dinners and visits to your house. Yeah, I even remember you (and was surprised and a bit saddened after reading of Stephen's passing). You were - as we all were - a bit younger then. My wife and I will pray for your parents as well as you and your family. God Bless.
