Lola Estella Phillips, daughter of the Warren and Ethel Lindsay, was born June 5, 1908, near Bath, Illinois. She departed this life Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at the Laurie Care Center, Laurie, Missouri, at age 99 years and 14 days. Lola was united in marriage to Lawrence A. Phillips on May 19, 1928 and together they shared 60 years and the birth of 3 daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, son-in-law Joseph Crum, one sister and four brothers, her brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews and many friends. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Crum, Los Alamitos, CA, Gladyce Bagley and husband Victor, Sunrise Beach, MO, and Lucille White and husband Martin, Sunrise Beach, MO; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Esther Lindsay, Havana, IL and Ruby Phillips, Edmondton, Alberta, Canada, and many nieces and nephews. Lola was raised in Bath, IL where she graduated from high school and attended the school reunions until 2003. She and Lawrence moved to Independence, MO in 1949 and were charter members if the Blue Ridge Congregation of the RLDS church. Lola moved to Laurie, MO in 2005 to be near her daughters Gladyce and Lucille. She spent the last few months of her life at the Laurie Care Center where she will be remembered for her sweet smile and gentle ways. Lola was a homemaker and loved to sew, crochet and garden. She sewed by hand the girls clothes and later crochet each son-in-law and grandchild an afghan, and sewed and stuffed animals for the children's ward of a hospital in Independence.
