Richard Wayne Thomas

Richard “Dick� Thomas of Farmers Branch passed away on Friday morning, Oct. 16, in Plano. He was born on Dec. 22, 1929 to Porter and Rosalee Thomas. Dick was a retired banker and home builder residing in Farmers Branch for 46 years. He was a former Chamber of Commerce President, served in the Civic League and was once a mayoral candidate for the city of Farmers Branch. He had a love for art, the outdoors, and most of all his family. After serving his country in the U. S. Navy, he met the love of his life, Shirley Mae Cleghorn. They married in 1956 and shared 51 years together before her passing in 2007. Survivors Include: Daughter, Cindy Shields and her husband Bill; son, Brian Thomas and his wife Jo Ann; son, Greg Thomas; grandchildren, Ashley Shields, Stephanie Shields, Logan Thomas, and Seth Thomas. Services for Mr. Thomas will be held Wednesday, October 21 at 10:00 a. m. at the Wildwood Chapel of Restland Funeral Home. Family will be receiving visitors from 6:00-8:00 on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Restland.
