Ruby Boettner Holliday was born on September 14, 1940, and passed away May 19, 2010. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Boettner Jr., her mother, Helen Schiele Boettner, her brother, Edward Bruce Boettner and her husband, Thomas J. Holliday. She is survived by her brothers Barry and wife Nancy Boettner, Bobby and wife Jean Boettner, as well as her daughter Susan Holliday and her son Patrick and wife Melissa C. Holliday. In addition, her godson Eddie Boettner, sister-in-law Jean Stewart, 18 nieces and nephews and more close friends than could possibly be listed. Ruby earned a Masters Degree in Education from Southeastern University as well as a Masters Degree of Business Education from Loyola University. She was a teacher at Delgado Community College for a record 47 years. Ruby was a native of New Orleans and a resident of River Ridge for the past 38 years. Ruby was a dedicated mother and faithful friend to everyone who knew her. She battled various forms of cancer for the last 30 years finally succumbing after a brave and courageous fight. Her children would like to thank Dr. Richard Kline and the staff at Ocshner's Hospital as well as the staff at River Regions Hospice for their compassionate care of their mother during the last two weeks. Her children would like to especially thank Mrs. Beryl Brandt, her life-long, faithful friend and caregiver for her unwavering friendship. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass celebrated by family member, Rev. David Boettner at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
