Mr. Buford Glyn "Buf" Slay Jr.

Buford Glyn “Buf� Slay, Jr., 76, of Paris, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010, at his home following a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. “Buf�, the son of Buford Glyn Slay, Sr., and Marion Crofoot Slay, was born Dec. 13, 1933, in Houston, Texas. He served in the U. S. Air Force from Oct. 1, 1954 until July 24, 1958. He flew B-36 Bombers with SAC and when honorably discharged held the rank of First Lieutenant. He received his Masters in Physics from the University of Texas. His career with Texas Instruments spanned thirty-five years. He served the company in areas around the world beginning in Richardson, Texas. In Taiwan and El Salvador he was an Engineering Manager. In Plymouth, England and Portugal he was a Site Manager. Following his retirement he and his wife, Marianne, moved to Paris where they joined and became active at First Presbyterian Church. “Buf� also was an accomplished bridge player and had attained the status of “Silver Life Member�. Survivors include his wife, Marianne Allert Slay, whom he married on Sept. 18, 1958, three children, Ann Elizabeth Thompson and husband William of Zavala, Buford Glyn Slay, III and wife Brenda of Lakeway and Melissa O’Keefe & husband Tom of Portage, MI, one brother, Charles C. Slay & wife Amy of Missouri, seven grandchildren, Nathan Thompson of Fort Worth, Ruth Thompson Compos & husband Jesse of Fort Worth, Alison Slay & Buford Glyn Slay, IV of Lakeway, Tommy O’Keefe, Patrick O’Keefe and Colleen O’Keefe, all of Portage, MI; along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
