James Walley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 20, 2010.
James L. Walley - James Walley of Franklin, NC and Winter Garden, FL passed away on August 20th, 2010 of respiratory failure. He was 85 years old. Born September 19, 1924 in Foulke, Mississippi, James joined the Marine Corps in 1942, and served in the Pacific Theater of WWII. He married his wife of 62 years, Lola Marie Rackley, in September of 1947. They spent the next 38 years raising a family and moving across much of the southeast (South Carolina, Texas, and Georgia). James was an employee of Delta Airlines for thirty years before retiring in 1985. He retired to the mountains of western North Carolina, taking up residence with Lola in Franklin. Always ready with a joke or a bit of homespun southern wisdom, James was well known and loved by many in the local community where he was a member of Dryman's Chapel Methodist Church and the Otto Volunteer Fire Dept. Starting in 2007, the Walleys began dividing their time between their home in Franklin and a new home in Winter Garden, FL. James is survived by his wife, Lola, three daughters, Lindy, Cindy, and Mindy, six grandchildren, Spring, Starr, Brooke, Bethany, Ric, and Connor, and four great grandchildren, Raine, Zale, Gabriel, and Isaac. Arrangements by: Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home winter Garden Chapel 428 East Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787 407-656-2233.
