Larry Walter Short, 60, of Aurora, died Tues. Nov. 23, 2010 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 30, 1950 in Richlands, VA, the son of Walter and Jeannette (Wade) Short. Larry graduated from Senn High School in Chicago, where he was a star athlete. He enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, and football. He served in the U.S. Army. Larry was the vice president and business agent for the Laborer’s Union Local 118 in Chicago. He married Rochelle Paquin on Sept. 8, 1995 in Waukegan, IL. The couple moved to Aurora from Chicago in 2007. Larry was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching all sports on t.v. Larry is survived by his wife Rochelle “Rocky� of Aurora, his son Larry Short of Aurora, his daughter Tamara (Chris) Hamm of Lake Villa, IL, his parents Walter and Jeannette Short of Richlands, VA, his stepdaughter Heather Cooper of Chicago, his brother Mervin (Nancy) Shortt of Elgin, IL his brothers and sisters-in-law Marie (Dale) Hicks of Aurora, Sheila Walters of Horn Lake, Miss, Ted (Sylvia) Paquin of Iron Mountain, Lester (Betty) Paquin of Utica, MI, and Randy Paquin of Iron Mountain, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law Leonard “Sonny� Paquin and Larry Paquin, and his sister-in-law Renee Paquin Anderson. Visitation will be Sat. from 12 noon to 1pm at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Sat. at 1pm at the funeral home. Father Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in his family’s cemetery on Short Gap Mountain, VA. Condolences to the family of Larry W. Short can be expressed online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com. The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
