Paul E. Keys, 80 of Sheffield Lake passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain of complications due to cancer. Mr. Keys was born June 22, 1930 in Teaneck, New Jersey and had lived in Sheffield Lake the past 38 years. Mr. Keys, raised in Meadville, Pennsylvania, was a graduate of Meadville High School . After graduation he served his country in the United States Army in Korea . He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Sheffield Lake, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Ragan Council, 3269, Avon, as a Fourth Degree Knight. In additions to his civic activities Mr. Keys was a stamp collector, flower and vegetable gardener and enjoyed watching football. Mr. Keys is survived by children Patrick Keys of Cleveland, John Keys of Sheffield Lake, Kathleen Keys of Sheffield Lake and Joseph Keys of Strongsville. Other survivors include sisters-in-law Sr. Elaine Wellinger H.M. and Grace Keys. He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years Donna (nee Wellinger) Keys whom he married September 10, 1967, parents Paul C. and Helen (nee Brophy) Keys and three brothers Jerry Keys (Elizabeth-Dec) Donald Keys (Martha) and Thomas Keys (Patricia). Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Friday, February 11 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm. Prayer service will be Saturday at the Funeral Home at 11:15am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church , 715 Harris Rd., Sheffield Lake at 12:00pm. Fr. Stephen Shields of the Church will officiate, entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon. For more information or to send an online condolence go to www.buschfuneral.com.
