Brandon Michael Steffen received his wings April 6, 2011 after a four and half year battle with lymphoma. He was surrounded by his family and endeared medical staff as he passed peacefully. Brandon was born on the 13th of August, 1990, in Marquette Michigan, the son of Valorie (Murrow) and Stuart Steffen. His passion was music and life. At the age of 3, he began playing the piano by ear. He harbored his talent and expanded it to other instruments to include the saxophone, guitar, and drums and was working toward a degree in music. For most hours of the day, Brandon could be found in his home studio that was provided by the Make-a-Wish foundation, where he wrote and recorded a variety of pieces. The highlight of Brandon’s career was performing at the Leukemia-Lymphoma Black Tie Ball with the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra a piece he composed, entitled, “A Battle Unforgettable. Brandon used his gentle personality and unwavering faith to touch the lives of so many. He will be forever missed. Brandon is survived by his parents, Stuart and Valorie Steffen, and siblings, Nicolas and Krystalin Steffen of Olathe, Kansas; his paternal grandmother, Judith Steffen of Overland Park, Kansas; his maternal grandparents, Jewel and Phyllis Murrow, of New Braunfels, Texas; his Uncles, Randy and Doug Steffen, and his aunt, Pam Stokem.
