Mary Ann Deffinbaugh Semones, 88 of Staffordsville entered into peaceful sleep on Thursday, March 6th, 2008 at her home. She was born in Covington on December 28th, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Pauline Seldomridge Deffinbaugh. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles Otis Semones; one brother, six sisters, two sons-in-law; a daughter-in-law, and two great-grandsons. She was a member of New Village Pentecostal Holiness Church in Staffordsville. She is survived by a son, Fred L. Semones of New Castle; six daughters, Linda S. Hosey of Gloucester, Virginia, Mrs. Wayne (Frankie) Haley of Hampton, Virginia, Mrs. Danny (Betty) Kendall of New Castle, Mrs. James (Dorcas) Martin of Barstow, California, Sue S. Lawson of Staffordsville, and Mrs. Robert (Peggy) Richards of Jacksonville, North Carolina; 24 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Lillian Carpenter of Chillicothe, Ohio and Betty Hensley of Semmes, Alabama; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 9th, 2008 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Bryan Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service Saturday from 6 to 8 PM. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions, please consider the Giles County Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society.
