Gladys W. Tanner Greenville, SC Gladys Williams Tanner was born in West Pelzer to Frank J. Simmons and Margie Wooten Simmons. She went to be with her Lord and Saviour October 11, 2011, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim Williams, and is survived by sons, Jim Williams, Jr. and his wife, Karen, and Sam Williams and his wife, Debby, all of Greenville. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Ben Tanner, and is survived by sons, Meadors Tanner and his wife, Marie, of Greenville, and Perry Tanner and his wife, Pat, of Woodstock, GA. Also, she was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Gregory, and brothers, Jimmy and Billy Simmons. Surviving grandchildren include Amy and husband Kryz, Emily, Jason and wife Amanda, Valerie and husband Reed, Jennings and wife Susan, and Ben and wife Andrea. Great-grandchildren are Jonathan, Victoria, James, Jordan, Jamie, Colton, Katy and Benjamin, and great-great-grandson, Carter. Mrs. Tanner was a dedicated member and pianist at Park Place Baptist Church for over twenty years. She has since been a member of Edwards Road Baptist Church until her death and regularly attended chapel and Bible study at Westminster Place where she resided for the past fourteen years. She loved her Lord and was always a witness to family and friends. She loved living, socializing and being a part of Westminster Place, where she leaves many dear friends, associates and staff. In her parting days she kept her faith and always said that everything was in God's hands. Special thanks is given to the staff of McCall Hospice House, especially at the end to Michelle, Suzy and Tina, the vascular unit and doctors of Greenville Memorial Hospital, especially her case manager Millie Holden, who was a blessing to the family, and the staff at Magnolia Place of Greenville and Emeritus Bellaire Assisted Living. All of their kindness is greatly appreciated. Visitation will be Friday at 12:30 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary with a service of remembrance following at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Leland Browder and the Rev. Don Andrews officiating. Interment will follow at Springwood Cemetery. For those who prefer, contributions may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 W.
