Lana Griffin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 23, 2011.
GRIFFIN, LANA passed away, November 23, 2011. Lana, the daughter of Lester and Julia Bingham, was born in Cuba May 13, 1946. When Lana was six, the Bingham family moved to Boston, Massachusetts where her list of educational and professional accomplishments only began to blossom. The American dream came true when Lana earned a BFA degree from the Art Institute of Boston. She became one of three African-American female Art Directors in the country during 1980-1990, utilizing her skills at a top advertising agency in Los Angeles, California. A signature moment in Lana's career was shepherding her agency's multi-million dollar Mazda account at a time when women and minorities were challenged to overcome the prevailing mindset of a male dominated field. After relocating to St. Petersburg, Florida, Lana also worked with Delta Air Lines, Inc. Her creative talent was enviable and admired. She left behind much of her creative beauty here on earth. Survived by her loving and devoted husband Joseph Griffin, daughter Lacey Bingham Burnside, sons Shawn and Kyle Griffin, sisters Carlene (Maurice) Mongkuo and Lottie Steadman nephews Mario (Val) Palmer, Tafrey Mongkuo, Danny Steadman, nieces Jamia Wells-Palmer, Kristina Bingham, Meya Mongkuo, Khiari Palmer, Tracy Davis, two sisters in law Maxine(Frederick) Terry, Estelle (Ronald) Davis as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends.
