Timothy Joseph Herr, 56, a well known and respected insurance executive residing in Farmington since 2008, formerly of Cincinnati, OH and Omaha, NB, passed away early Tuesday morning (April 10, 2012) at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Evansville, IN, a son of Richard H. and Theresa M. (Collins) Herr of Evansville, IN. Tim was educated in Evansville and was a graduate Evansville North High School Class of 1973, earned his B.S., in Mathematical Sciences with a primary study in Actuarial Science from the University of Iowa Class of 1978. He was employed from 1990 – 1997 with the Mutual of Omaha Companies and from 1991 – 1997 was the Senior Vice President of Sales. From 2001 – 2004 he joined the Money Group where he served as Vice President and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, US Financial Life Insurance Company in Cincinnati, OH, President and CEO of US Financial Life Insurance Company from 2001 – 2004 and Senior Vice President of AXA Equitable in Farmington, CT from 2004 – 2007, and the Founder and President of Preferred Strategic Partners LLC from 2008 – 2010. Most recently he was employed as the Senior VP, BGA Channel Leader with Genworth Financial. He was actively involved with the Farmington Youth Basketball team, an avid golfer and sports enthusiast in general. Tim was a member of Valley Community Baptist Church of Avon. Besides his parents he leaves his loving wife of fourteen years, Debra G. (Wood) Herr of Farmington; three sons, Zach J. Herr, a draft choice and professional baseball player with the San Diego Padres Baseball Organization currently residing in Omaha, NB, and Clayton J. and Grayson J. Herr both of Farmington; three brothers, Dennis R. Herr and his wife Janet of Evansville, IN, Kevin J. Herr of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Daniel P. Herr and his wife Cindy of South Windsor; a sister, Deborah M. Thompson and her husband Jeff of O'Fallon, MO; 15 nieces and nephews, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins. His family will receive friends Thursday, April 12th from 5-8 p.m. at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Rd., Avon. Tim's funeral will be held Friday, April 13th at 11 a.m. at the Valley Community Baptist Church, 590 West Avon Rd., in Avon. Burial is private and at his family's convenience. Tim Herr was that rare, truly exceptional, youth sports coach. Not only did Tim teach basketball skills, he demonstrated to the kids ,and parents, the meaning of true sportsmanship and grace.
