Robert H. Daunais, 76, of Bach Lane, died Friday May 4, 2012, after a short illness at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Springfield. He was the son of the late Louis and Maria (Dauchaine) Buoniconti. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps and was discharged in 1963. He worked for area car dealerships and retired from Burke-Whitaker in Northampton. He was a member of the Elk's in Ludlow and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Phoebe (Phoenix) Daunais, his loving step-children, Deborah Carney and her husband Shawn, Cynthia Coleman and her husband Larry and Kenneth Gress and his wife Tina, his children, Doreen, Robert, Sheila, Lynn and Tracy, his sister Doris Scalia, also his 14 grandchildren and his precious little great grandchildren, Ana, Ayden and Emma. The funeral for Robert will be held on Monday at 10am in the Ryder Funeral Home followed with his burial in Evergreen Cemetery both in South Hadley. Calling hours for Robert will be held on Sunday from 2-5 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Baystate VNA and Hospice, Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut St. Springfield, MA, 01144 or South Hadley Council on Aging, 45 Dayton St., South Hadley, MA, 01075.
