Waltham – Mrs. June V. (Nee) O'Brien, of Waltham, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Newton Health Care Center. She was 88. June was born in South Boston on June 21, 1923, a daughter of the late Michael and Alice (Joyce) Nee. She moved to Waltham when she married Francis A. 'Buddy' O'Brien on November 23, 1946, shortly after he was discharged from the service. Buddy died on September 14, 2000. Until her retirement June worked for twenty-six years for Brandeis University Dining Services in Waltham. She leaves her children, Patricia M. Conboy and her husband, Kenneth, of West Newton, Kathleen A. Santaniello and her husband, Frank, of Nashua, New Hampshire and Robert M. O'Brien of Waltham; her grandchildren, Stephen, Brian and Kelli Conboy; her great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarah, Nathanael and Ethan Conboy and Hayden Santaniello; her brother and sister, Thomas Nee of Newburyport and Cecelia Roseland of South Dakota and many nieces and nephews. June was also a sister of the late George and John Nee, Mary Kiernan and Alice McGurdy. Family and friends will honor and remember June's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, May 23rd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to The Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
