Joseph Barcia

Joseph Samuel Barcia entered into paradise on Sunday, July 15, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. Age 82. Loving husband of Rosalie "Lee" Costa Barcia for 57 years. Devoted father of Karen Bouffine (Raymond) and Janine Bouanchaud (Emile). Son of the late Lena and Alphonse Barcia. Brother of Henry Barcia (Mary), Tony Barcia (Velma), Jean Spurlock (the late Claude), Alphonse Barcia Jr. (Dee), Salvatore Barcia (Cathy) and the late Camilla Gravois (Earl), Philip Barcia and Jennie Barcia. Brother-in-law of Carol Breaud (the late Ray). Adoring grandfather of Jessica Elliott (Kim), Jodie Rogers (Herman), Jenna Bouanchaud and Holly Bouffine (Brett). Proud great grandfather of Landon Joseph Rogers and step-great grandfather of Blake Leo. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and loyal friends. Joseph was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 50 years prior to Hurricane Katrina. He was an Air Force Veteran and retired from Murphy Oil. Joseph was a member of the 10:00 o'clock choir at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Chalmette, LA for 27 years, Knights of Columbus and AARP 5408. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 10:00 – 2:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
