David G. Thomson, age 58, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012. He was born on November, 21, 1953 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the son of Ruth (Miess) and the late George P. Thomson. David received an electrical engineering degree from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada and a M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario. He moved to the United States and had a successful career with Nortel Networks, McKinsey & Company, and Hewlett Packard. He started his own companies including Blueprint Growth Institute and ActivDox. David was the author of two books, Mastering the 7 Essentials of High Growth Companies and Blueprint to a Billion. He enjoyed building model airplanes, skiing, running, spending time with his family and walking his dog, Drake. Survivors include his wife, Eileen, four children; Christine, Allison, Julie and Kevin, sister Diane (Peter) Sessenwein and brother Mark (Amy) Thomson. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 16th at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 11100 College Blvd. Overland Park, KS 66210 at 4pm. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 15th at the church from 6-8pm. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Ottawa, Canada. Donations may be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund.

I had lost touch with Dave and was shocked to hear that he had passed away in 2012. Dave was an amazing and inspirational person. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him. He will be greatly missed!
