William Ross Sheppell

William Ross, a beloved husband, father and friend passed away Friday at the age of 86. Born and raised in Kearny, NJ, Bill was a naval veteran who served in the South Pacific in World War II. A member of the US Soccer Hall Of Fame, Bill represented his country in the 1950 FIFA World Cup and at the 1952 Olympics as a member of the US soccer team. Bill and wife Catherine moved to the Cincinnati area in 1963. He enjoyed a highly successful career with Noritake China Company while fulfilling a lifelong dream of breeding Thoroughbred racehorses on his Pleasant Plain farm. Bill was loved by all who knew him for his charm, quick wit and kindness. He is survived by wife Catherine, sons William Jr., Peter and daughter Elizabeth(Michael)Zachry. Visitation on Tuesday, August 28 between 6 and 8pm at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Dr, Loveland, OH. Service at 11am, Wednesday August 29. Internment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the National Parkinson's Foundation or to a charity of choice.
