Edward John Rogel

Edward Rogel, age 89, died on May 14,2010. He was born in LaSalle,Illinois and has lived in Arizona for the past twenty two years. Hisparents were Hattie and Louis Rogel of Watervliet, Mi. He is survived byhis brother, Alex Rogel of Torch Lake, MI, his three sons, James ofPhoenix, AZ, Donald of Surprise, AZ and Laurence of Corrales, NM, and hisfive grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Christine, Megan, and Kaitlin. Heserved in the Marine Corps infantry during World War II (February 22, 1943-April 22, 1945). He fought in the Pacific Theater and was wounded duringthe Battle of lwo Jima and received a purple heart. He worked at RogelLincoln-Mercury from 1962 -1975 and was a top salesman in 1966-68. Hecontinued his career at Rogel Brothers Auto Sales with his two sons, Jamesand Donald. He retired in 1986. Edward is remembered and loved by hisfamily for being a "warrior with a gentle heart." Funeral arrangementswill be handled by Sunwest Funeral Home, El Mirage, Arizona. Visitationwill be held at the Funeral Home from 5-8 on Thursday, May 20 . Thefuneral mass will be held at. St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church inSurprise, Az. at 10:00 on Friday, May 21, followed by the burial at theNational Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 1:00 pm.
