Richard W. Luce Jr.

HOLYOKE: Richard W. "Dick" Luce, Jr., 66, of Holyoke died suddenly on Monday, September 3, 2012 at his home. He was born in Northampton, son of the late Richard W. Luce, Sr. and Anna Sanders, and was educated in the Northampton and Holyoke Schools. Dick was previously employed as a Payroll Manager at Titan Roofing of Chicopee and Morris Roofing of Springfield. This past May he retired from 21st Century Pools & Spas as their service manager. He was a Shriner and a Mason, and worshipped at the United Congregational Church of Holyoke. Dick participated in the St. Patrick Sunday Night Bowling League in South Hadley, and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karin (Maruca) Luce; two sons, John R. Luce of Asheville, NC and Richard W. Luce, III and his wife Porsche of Sanger, CA; two daughters, Heather A. Luce and her partner Ken Bacon of Holyoke, and Amy E. Luce and her partner Jeff Stocks of Asheville, NC; ten grandchildren; a brother, Douglas B. Luce of Northampton, a half-sister, Mary Ellen Colvin of NH; two step-brothers, John and Jerry Herring; two step-sisters, Jean Niquette and Diane Zink; his mother-in-law, Erika Urbon; a brother-in-law, Baron Maruca, along with many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his first granddaughter, Kirsten. The Funeral will be held Monday morning at 8:45 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street Holyoke followed by a Service at 10:00 a.m. in Skinner Chapel of United Congregational Church, Maple Street, Holyoke. The Service will be officiated by the pastoral team of Charles and Roberta Morkin. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Northampton. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Street, Greenville, SC 29605.
