Michael G. Pfeffer, age 45, of Sauk Centre died at his home Wednesday, April 21, 2004 after a battle with cancer. Mass of Chrisitian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schnieder officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held Thursday at 5:15 p.m. followed by St. Paul's Catholic Aid and Knights of Columbus at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Michael G. Pfeffer was born on December 23, 1958 in Sauk Centre to Alfred and Leona (Weber) Pfeffer. He graduated from Sauk Centre High School and attended Pipestone Community College for meat cutting. Mike's first employment was with Jim's Jack & Jill Grocery in Sauk Centre. Later, Mike had a meat route selling Hillshire Farm products and then bought Frozen Foods Grocery, now known as Pfeffer's Country Market. Mike was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, where he served on the parish council for many years. He was a member of the Sauk Centre Lions Club, Bishop Joseph F. Busch Knights of Columbus Council #4863, the St. Paul's Catholic Aid, and a charter member of M.I.T. Investment Club. Mike's passions were hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. One of his favorite places was his family cabin where many memories were made with family and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Alfred J. Pfeffer on March 11, 2001. Casket bearers will be John Egan, Jerry Meier, Dale Emmel, John Emmel, Tom Walker and Alan Lawinger. Cross bearer will be Ben Stepan. Scripture bearer will be Adam Halverson.Honorary bearers will be Herm Tschida, Kevin Soenneker, Joe Bauer, Harold Rademacher, Walter VanVleet, Roger Hoffman, Joyce Jungers, Tim Thielen, Mabel Trierweiler and Terry Knapek.
