Edward E. "Ed" Foth, 93 of Avon, formerly of Seven Hills passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Fairview Hospital, Cleveland. Mr. Foth was born May 22, 1919 in Hinckley, OH and had lived in Seven Hills for 43 years before moving to Avon 4 years ago. Ed, the son of Frank and Anna Foth (nee Ratajczak) was raised on a farm in Hinckley with his 10 brothers and sisters. Next to the family farm was Skyland Golf Course, where Ed got his first job and discovered what would become a lifelong passion for the game of golf. By the time he was in his teens, he had already become an accomplished scratch golfer and went on to win many tournaments and trophies for his skill on the links. He still enjoyed playing the game as recently as a year ago. Ed graduated from Hinckley High School in 1937 and served in the US Air Force during WWII as a radio operator and gunner. After the war he and several of his brothers went to work for the Ohio Crankshaft Company in Cleveland, a manufacturer of parts for airplanes, trains and tugboats, retiring as a supervisor after 40 plus years of service. He also started and owned his own successful business, Standard Line Guard Equipment Company, receiving a patent for developing marking flags to aid in the striping of highways. His roadway products were used in many states throughout the USA. Ed was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, attending as many of his grandchildren's events as possible. Besides his family and golf he also enjoyed spending time outdoors in his vegetable garden and tending to his fruit trees. This past summer, he was proud of growing some of his best tasting cukes and tomatoes ever. To get away, he would frequently travel to Las Vegas with his wife Josephine, which they did for over 50 years. Ed was a member of St. Columbkille Church. Ed was a devoted sports fan and loved the Browns, Cavs, and Indians. He watched every game and cheered the teams on whether they were winning or losing, as he patiently waited for a championship in Cleveland. Ed is survived by his son Ron Foth (Kay) of Powell and his daughter Marsha Nagy (Rick) of Avon. Other survivors include four grandchildren; Ron Jr., Mike, Laurie and Sherry; seven great- grandchildren; Gracie, Claire, Ronnie III, Brandon, Ava, Alyssa, and Caelan; and sister Jeanie Ozanich of California. He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Josephine (nee Makrucki) whom he married August 3, 1940. He is also preceded in death by an infant son Edward, five brothers and four sisters, and his parents: Anna (nee Ratajczak) and Frank Foth. Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon from 4:00-8:00pm Tuesday, January 22. Prayer service will be Wednesday, January 23 at 9:15am at the funeral home and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Road, North Ridgeville at 10am.

I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed seeing his warm smile, and hearing all the great stories about him from Ron Sr., Ron Jr. and Mike. And of course he and I had many conversations about how great the Cavs should be. He will be missed.
