LARRY EDWARD SHORT FAYETTEVILLE – Larry Edward Short, of Fayetteville, West Virginia passed and went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2013 after a long illness surrounded by his family. Larry was born on July 12, 1937, in Kayford, West Virginia. A graduate of East Bank High School, He was an avid baseball and football player. Larry met Judy while she was still in high school and they were marred and lived in West Virginia, Conneticut, and had their final careers in Palm Beach County, Florida. In 2000, they returned to West Virginia, making Fayetteville their final retirement location. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Judy Short; his daughters: Vickie (and her husband and wonderful son-in-law) Reinie Wendt; granddaughter, Nicole Schumacher (who is married to Robert Schumacher) and Layla Schumacher, his great granddaughter; his daughter, Kelly Short and her children/grandsons, Clark and Grant Poston of Vermont. Larry is also survived by his sister, Mary Short Agardi and husband, George of Midlands, NC, and many loving nieces and nephews. Larry loved hunting, fishing and anything outdoors his entire life. He had life-long friends and was always willing to lend a hand when he could. His friendships could be witnessed by their duration and loyalty. Larry loved his family immensely and was happiest when everyone could be with him. He loved to sit and listen to Judy play the piano and keyboard. This strong, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend will be missed terribly. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, January 25, 2013 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home with Pastor David Sneed and Pastor Ron George, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 to 2 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army, 312 South Fayette Street, Beckley, WV 25801 Larry's favorite charity would be appreciated. Maple Avenue, Fayetteville, will be assisting the family.
