I will never forget you Derek. The gentle teddy bear, warm hugs, bright smiles, always respectful, soft spoken, the conversations about family, about Iris, the love of your life, the twinkle in your eyes when you spoke about your kids and grandkids; how you were always the first to sign up or take action when a complex or difficult challenging task needed leadership; how you would drive with the "boys" to NY for a holiday party, gatheringa or a cruise up the East River; the party always got started upon your arrival; and you made sure we all knew you had arrived. I will never forget you and always thought we would see each other one day soon; for now I will have to settle for that you will look down on all those that love you until we all meet again. To Iris, your children and extended family; you were all blessed to have him in your life and he loved you all so much. I hope that his love, your memories and knowing how special and loved Derek was will help you through these difficult times. Derek will never be forgotten and sorely missed. RIP my dear friend.

Iris, there are so many beautiful memories to reflect on. Derek will be sorely missed by all family and friends. It is so hard to say good-bye to yesterday but he will forever be remembered and live in our hearts.

I did not feel as if I knew Derek as well as many others, but he did have an impact on my life. I had spoken to him many times on calls for work and indirectly for issues, but we have not met until recently. When I made it to DE, I walked up as usual to shake his hand and introduce myself...he looked at me, held out his arms, and gave me a big hug! Derek said "big guys can hug each other" :-) that touched me! Derek was a great person and one I will miss. Hope your in a better place sir...give the big guy up there a hug, you'll have a friend forever :-)

Iris, I am deeply saddened on the sudden passing of your husband. Derek was a great boss and all of us who worked for him thought the world of him and will miss him very much. Derek was very much admired and respected, and I can truly say that I have never heard an unkind word spoken about him. Please extend our deepest sympathy to your wonderful family. May you all find the strength and courage to get through the days ahead. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. GO DALLAS!!

Derek was my friend for over 30 years. He was the best friend, always there for you. always a positive person, kind and giving. No one I know has bad word to say about him. I wanted my sons to be like him. Such a positive role model. We met when I was 17 years old, he was someone that always there for me and others. Never said no, he treated everyone the same, always willing to to help, never forgot our birthday's or to call or send a card on the holidays. There were four of us Derek, Berthony Theodore and Lloyd Johnson all from Brooklyn, New York, we stayed close friends all these years. In fact Tony and I with our families moved to Delaware few years after Derek relocated. We were best friends. We had great times together. Tony passed away last year. Derek was the glue and he will be sorely missed. Iris was his heart and he only wanted the best for her and his children. The world is colder place without him. Rest in Peace my brother. Love

Iris, I wasn't able to attend on Saturday, but I wanted you to know that I miss my friend Derek Forrest very musch. I've worked at that place for 25 years and consulted Derek many times on different issues, he was a mentor I looked up to. Derek was the best dressed man at MCC. We all admired him for his honesty with his empolyees, his perseverance and his class. Derek was a class 'A' person and his passing is a loss to many of us who worked with him. My prayers are with you and your family.

Iris I am so sorry to hear of Derek's passing. I worked at Beeson's when his mother passed away a few years ago and I remember you both very well, and all I can say is what kind and wonderful man he was (and he smelled good to - lol) He will be deeply missed by all, again Iris I am sorry for your loss.
