David M. Duckworth September 24, 1944-January 28, 2013 David "Dave" Duckworth, 68, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2013, after a short battle with cancer with his loving wife, Becky, at his side. He was born on September 24, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Hyrum and Marian Duckworth. The family moved to northern California when Dave was a young boy. He graduated from Thomas Downey High School in Modesto and then attended Modesto Junior College and Chico State University, where he received his teaching credential. He taught Physical Education at Fremont Junior High School in Stockton for 34 years as well as coached soccer. He always said that he wouldn't have wanted to do anything else because he had such a great love for his students. One of Dave's passions in life was playing golf. He was an avid golfer and a member of the golf team in college. He belonged to Brookside Country Club in Stockton for 16 years where he also made many wonderful friends. Dave will always be remembered for his unselfish demeanor and fun-loving personality He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Michael. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Becky, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton, CA 95219 on Tuesday, February 5, from 12:00 noon to 5 PM. Services will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton, CA 95219 on Wednesday, February 6 at 11:30 AM. A private committal service will follow for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of San Joaquin County or the charity of your choice.
