Herbert Ronald Edelstein

Herbert Ronald Edelstein, 82, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Francee Sigal Edelstein passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013 on the USS Yorktown at 10:00 am. The family will sit Shiva at the residence, 3234 John Bartram Place, Mt. Pleasant, SC on Sunday, March 3, 2013 and Monday, March 4, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Shiva service will take place each evening at 7:00 pm. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Dr. Edelstein was born August 10, 1930 in Yonkers, New York, the son of the late George and Gertrude Scheer Edelstein. An orthodontist. he was a member of the American Orthodontic Society and the American Dental Association. He was a member Rotary Club International, and was the former President of the Meriden-Walingford Rotary Club. Dr. Edelstein was a former Alderman of the City of Meriden, CT and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was also a Master Gardener, an avid tennis player, and sang in the Franke at Seasice Chorus. He is survived by his wife, Francee Edelstein of Mount Pleasant, SC; his children, Steven Edelstein and his wife, Jane of New Haven, CT, Jill Schecter and her husband, Matthew of Greenwich, CT, and Carla Tanz and her husband, Steven of New York, NY; his step-children, Sherri Persh and her husband, Barry of Bethesda, MD, Caren Suarez and her husband, Bryan of Oakton, VA, and Lisa Klein and her husband, Jeff of Fairfax, VA; and his thirteen grandchildren. Dr. Edelstein was preceded in death by his sister, Renee Held.
