Dennis E. Haggerty, Esq., age 85, of Chester, PA, formerly of Media, PA, passed away on July 18, 2013 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Dennis and Dorothy Haggerty (nee Howard). Mr. Haggerty served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea. He was self-employed as a attorney in Philadelphia and Springfield. He is survived by his children Susan M. Ford (Robert), Karen A. Comolli (John) and Mimi Mengel (Michael), 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Eileen M. Haggerty (nee Brennan) and his son Dennis "Boomer" Haggerty. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Monday, July 22, 2013 6-8 PM and Tuesday, July 23, 2013 8:30-9:30 AM The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA followed by his Funeral Mass 10:00 AM St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA. Interment will follow in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to The ARC of Delaware County, 740 S. Chester Road, Suite G, Swarthmore, PA 19081 would be appreciated.

So sorry to learn of Mr. Haggerty's passing. Since I started working at Briscoe & Haggerty when I was 17, I could never bring myself to call Mr. Haggerty by his first name. He was one of the nicest men I've ever had the privilege of knowing; as my grandmother would say, he was the "salt of the earth." He will be greatly missed by family and friends. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Haggerty and the family.
