William Hayes Grier Warner, 95, Lititz, formerly of Mt. Gretna, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Charlee H. Warner. He was born in Harrisburg on October 28, 1917, son of the late Earl and Gertrude Musser Warner. He served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy during WWII. He was a Gunnery Officer on the USS Weeden, escorting convoys in the North Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. He graduated from Haverford College in 1939 and after military service he graduated from University of Pennsylvania Law School. He was employed by Fidelity Philadelphia Trust Co and Studley Shubert Investment Co., prior to moving to Mt. Gretna and opening a law practice and teaching at Lebanon Valley College, Annville. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association for over 50 years and the Lebanon County Bar Association where he headed and promoted the Lebanon County Bar Association Pro Bono Division. He was a member and past president of the former Mt. Gretna Rotary Club, where he was active many years in the Student Exchange Program. He was a member of the Mt. Gretna United Methodist Church. Bill is survived by daughters, Melissa B. Warner, Lititz; Betsy, wife of Mark Rubinoff, Newtown Square; grandchildren, Nicholas Grier Rubinoff, Leah R. Rubinoff, Alec R. Rubinoff and Ethan C. Rubinoff. He was preceded in death by a brother, Douglass D. Warner. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bill's memorial service Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM from Mt. Gretna UM Church, 4th St. & Boehm Ave, Mt. Gretna, PA 17064 with the Rev. Michael S. Remel officiating. Friends will be received Saturday at the church beginning at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in Bill's memory may be made to Mt. Gretna UM Church, P.O. Box 427, Mt. Gretna, PA 17064 or Mid Penn Legal Services, 213 A North Front St., Harrisburg, PA 17101.
