On September 22, 2013 in Alexandria, VA. Nancy was a lifelong resident of Alexandria, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Harold DeVoe as well as by three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children; James (Judy) DeVoe and Diane DeVoe Woods; sister, Anita Davidson; grandchildren, Jeremy DeVoe, KJ Turner and Kathy Turner; great grandchildren, Zach Duncan, Maggie, and Caty Turner, Sierra, Aspen, and Savannah Pellettieri; numerous nieces, nephews and their families; and a host of close friends. A former member of Downtown Baptist Church and currently a member of First Baptist Church of Alexandria, she was very devoted to her faith and served as a Deaconess at Downtown Baptist Church for many years. Nancy enjoyed ministry within her church family as well as assisting others in need, particularly to the senior citizens. She served as a teacher to the Senior Adult Women's Sunday school class and sang in their choir. She also enjoyed bowling and square dancing. Family and friends may gather on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 9 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Alexandria, 2932 King St., Alexandria, VA 22302 with interment to follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Alexandria.
