Blanche E. LaPointe-Hager

HOLYOKE: Blanche E. (DeGray) LaPointe- Hager, 91, of Holyoke, died on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Wingate of West Springfield. She was born in Westfield, daughter of the late Morgan and Mary (Iserman) DeGray and was educated in the Westfield schools. Blanche lived most of her life in Holyoke and was a retired 15 year cafeteria worker for the Holyoke Public Schools.Prior to that she worked as a waitress at several area restaurants. Blanche enjoyed life to the fullest; she loved Holyoke, playing bingo, and spent many nights playing poker. Her husband Willard H. Hager passed away in 1985. Blanche is survived by 7 children; William LaPointe of CA, Joyce Frechette of South Hadley, Marie Lucey of Hoosic Falls, NY, Roland LaPointe, Jr., of Chicopee, Linda LaPointe of Greenfield, David Hager of Holyoke, and Mark Hager of Chicopee; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; 2 brothers, Raymond DeGray of West Springfield, and Newell DeGray of Westfield, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:00 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery, all in Holyoke.
