Robert Earl Fuller, Sr., 89, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Spring Arbor in Greenville. Robert was born in Monticello, South Carolina, one of 10 children, to the late Willie Lee Fuller and Lottie Deheinz Fuller. After having graduated from high school, Daddy Fuller, as he is affectionately known, enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country in the South Pacific during World War II, and was decorated with many citations. While enlisted, he met Ethell Strickland, the woman who would later become the love of his life. They married in 1946 and were married for fifty-five years when she passed away in 2001. After having been discharged from the Navy, Daddy Fuller used the skills he learned while serving and worked as an electrician. He was later recruited to work with a company in Goldsboro marketing 3M copiers. Upon retiring, he worked in his son's law office in Goldsboro. Daddy Fuller was a member Madison Avenue Baptist Church where he proudly sang with the Men of Madison. He was also a former member of the Adamsville Lions Club. Funeral services will be Sunday at 3:00 PM at Madison Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Fulkerson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Robert is survived his son, Robert E. Fuller, Jr. of Goldsboro; grandson, Zachary L. Fuller and fiancée Rachael; brothers, Herman Fuller and James Fuller; and his sister, Louise Joles. He is also survived by his special caregivers, Craig Millard, Gail Holley, Debbie Briley, Beverly Pate, Darnell Johnson and the staff and administrators at Spring Arbor and the Carolina House. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Freddie L. Fuller. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Madison Avenue Baptist Church, 300 S. Madison Avenue, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or Alzheimer's of North Carolina, Inc., 1305 Navaho Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27609.
