Robert Edward Walters, 88, of Charleston passed away February 2, 2014 at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. He was retired from WV Department of Highways as an Accountant for the Right of Way Division. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Also, he was a 32 Degree Mason and a member of Beni Kedem Shrine. Robert attended Stonewall Jackson High School, West Virginia University and graduated from Morris Harvey College. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. Robert enjoyed sports of all kinds and especially Mountaineer Football, golf and followed his grandsons all through their life in sports and everything they did. He was an animal lover and enjoyed his dog Bosco that was a member of his family for 18 years, and especially loved trips to the beach with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Jewell Boggs Walters. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Debbie Walters Vecchio – Arnett (Denny Arnett) of St. Albans, WV, Pauline M. Walters Barron of Charleston, WV; grandsons, Anthony Robert Vecchio of Virginia Beach., VA., John Frank Barron of Charleston, WV; sisters: Juanita Reed of Charleston, Patty Weiford (Bob) of Winfield and brother in law Pat Boggs (Jeannette) of Hinton, WV. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday March 10, 2014 at the Bartlett Burdette Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Cunningham Memorial Park, St Albans. Friends and family may call from 1 to 3 PM Sunday March 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
