Donnie McDowell

Donnie Ray McDowell, age 78, husband of Eleanor Stone McDowell, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Harold and Ethel Hellams McDowell. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and retired from West Point Stevens after 32 years of service. Mr. McDowell was of the Methodist faith and was a Shriner and Mason. In addition to his wife of 15 years, Eleanor McDowell, Mr. McDowell is survived by two sons, Rick McDowell and wife Susan, and Randy McDowell; two daughters, Patty Pardue and husband Leroy, and Donna Robinson; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three step-children, Ginger Gilbert and husband Kenneth, Buck Bishop and wife Jackie, and David Bishop and wife Lisa. He was predeceased by his first wife, Nora S. McDowell; and a daughter, Sherri D. McDowell. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Cannon Funeral Home-Jones Chapel, Simpsonville with burial to follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Cannon Funeral Home-Jones Chapel prior to the service. The family will be at the home.
