IRMO - The Mass of Christian Burial for David Franklin Olexa, 65, will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Chapin, SC with final commendation and farewell prayers in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. Dr. David Olexa passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Morgantown, WV, he a son of Wanda Marie Latusek Olexa and the late Michael Olexa. He was a graduate of West Virginia University, Indiana State University and the University of South Carolina. He was a Title One School Psychologist with Richland School District One, retiring in 2006. David was a highly respected psychologist and cared greatly for the children and families with whom he worked. He was well loved by his fellow psychologists, friends and especially family. He will be greatly missed. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Carol Ann Reed Olexa; sons, Steven Aaron Olexa (Jennifer) of Columbia and Phillip Andrew Olexa (Gabrielle) of Charlotte; grandson, Ashton Monroe Olexa; his mother of Morgantown, WV; brother, Michael T. Olexa (Colleen) of Gainsville, FL; sisters, Debra M. Olexa of Morgantown and Sandra K. Smith (Timothy) of Fredericksburg, VA.
