DUNCAN, ERNEST DALE (DALE, DUNC) Born December 11, 1914, in Woodson, Texas, died July 6, 2014, he would have been 100 years old on December 11, 2014. Ernest was a Shriner (Hella Temple), Scottish Rite member, and 50 year member of Masonic Blue Lodge. He rode mini bikes in Hella Mini-Patrol, and drove a hospital van for transporting crippled and burned children to Houston and Galveston. As a member of TX Baptist Men, he bricked churches all over the US, was a disaster relief volunteer during Hurricane Rita, and was with Minyard Food Stores for forty years. During WWII, he was in Civil Service and drove semis to pick up crashed planes in the Mojave Desert. He drove a flat-bed truck with Bob Hope, Jerry Colona, Frances Langford to USO shows in California. Ernest was a spiritual man and loved the Lord. He read the Bible every year. "Everybody loved Ernest." He is preceded in death by father, Mack Elora Duncan and mother, Etta Pittman Duncan, sisters, Era and Vera (twins), Dell, Jo, and Elora, and a half-brother, Bud, and daughter Darlene Dale Moses. He is survived by sons, John Mack, Ernest Michael, Dennis Drue, daughter, Nina Sue Hibler. Ernest is also survived by his wife of almost 31 years, Mary Jean Basye McCumber Duncan and her 3 children. He also has 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Also greeting Ernest in Heaven was Matthew Evans. He has an extended family in East Texas with step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Shady Shores Baptist Church in Corinth from 10:00-11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am with Pastor Bob Joyce officiating. A Graveside Service will follow at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, at 2:30 pm. Ernest DOES have his boots on.
