Erwin F. Mayer Sr.

Erwin F. Mayer, Sr. died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Saint Mary Medical Center in Langhorne at the age of 75. Born to Erwin and Elsie Mayer in Philadelphia, PA in 1939, Erwin was a life-long resident of Trevose where he resided with his beloved wife of 54 years, Lorraine E. Mayer (Bridges). Erwin graduated from Neshaminy High School in 1957 where he played football on two of the School's nine undefeated teams, including the 1956 team, generally considered the greatest team in Neshaminy's 86-year history. Erwin had a brief career playing semi-professional football before becoming a Master Printer. He was a member of the Trenton Printing and Pressmen Union No. 70. In his later years, Erwin worked as a taxi cab driver for the Langhorne Cab Co. Other than spending time with his family, Erwin's greatest joy came from attending Neshaminy football games and talking with people. Erwin was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise L. Logan, and sister, Katherine Fritz. Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Dawn L. Gruttadauria and husband Len, son, Erwin F. Mayer, Jr. and wife Rebecca, son-in-law Michael D. Logan and wife Madeline, two grandchildren, Apryl Marie Logan and Joelle Beth Mayer, and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Erwin's Life Celebration Wednesday, July 9th, from 9:00 a.m. at Dunn-Givnish of Langhorne, 378 S.
