Former Grants Pass resident, Theodore John "Ted" Dollarhide, 65, of Gold Hill died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at the home of a friend in Grants Pass. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, with Fr. Todd Young officiating. Private interment will be at Sparlin Cemetery in Williams. Chapel of the Valley – L.B. Hall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.chapel-valley.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the Theodore Dollarhide Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank in Grants Pass Ted was born August 30, 1948 in Santa Rosa, California to Jack J. and Violet Mary Dollarhide. He attended Santa Rosa Junior College and received his bachelor's degree from San Jose State University. He earned a doctorate in music composition from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He was a composer and college professor, teaching at Seoul University, Latrobe University, the University of Wisconsin, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was currently the coordinator of the music program at Rogue Community College. Ted was awarded a Fullbright Fellowship in the 1970s to study in Paris and was also a Tanglewood Fellow. He was a member of the National Association of Composers and Broadcast Music, Inc. His composition, "Blue Light, "will be performed by the Siskiyou Singers at their concerts on May 3rd and 4th. He was an avid horseman and enjoyed rehabbing his new home, his dogs and his chickens. In 2009 in Grants Pass he married Kathi Lee Watt, who died July 3, 2012. Survivors include his son, Clay Ming Kwong Dollarhide of Los Angeles; his step-daughter, Alyssa Watt of Prescott, Ariz.; two step-sons, Richard Watt of Hurleyville, N.Y. and Joseph Watt of Chandler, Ariz.; his sister, Julie Harmia; his brother, Vince Dollarhide of Santa Rosa, Calif.; his former wife, Susan Mark-Raymond of Sebastopol, Calif.; three nieces and one nephew.

I met Ted when I performed in one of his compositions in Melbourne in 1984 (I think). Left a lasting memory for the uni students there at the time.
