Matthew D. Stinson

Matthew David Stinson, age 25 of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Wednesday, September 17, 2014. He was born July 21, 1989 in Kansas City, KS and came with his family as an infant to Elyria where he was raised and remained a resident. He attended Elyria High School and graduated from Job Corp in Flint, MI. While in Michigan, he played basketball on the Job Corp Basketball team. Matthew was a painter in Lorain County. He enjoyed sports, especially basketball and football. He loved music, spending time with his family and known for his distinguished style and class with his attire. He is survived by his children, sons Jaylen and Joel Stinson, both of Clarksville, TN and a daughter, Halona Stinson, at home in Elyria; his fiancée, Sharon M. Whitmore of Elyria; his brothers, William R. Stinson, Jr. of Portland, OR and Ben G. Stinson of Avondale, AZ; his parents, William R. "Roy" Stinson, Sr. and Catherine L. "Cathy" Stinson (nee Jungels) of Avondale, AZ; his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Edith Jungels of Arkansas; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dave and Annie Wilson. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Busch Funeral and Crematory Services, 114 Second Street, Elyria on Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00pm.
